thats part of the reason they still work
in truth if they were used more commonly they would act as more of an area denial tactic, a single person can lay down 16 of em, and a few people working together can make an entire large socket untraversable by vehicles without alot of effort on their part.
in short they deny a particular path to vehicles more then they do kill them.
traps are my one of my favorite artforms. |

You draw dicks with your proxies don't you?
nope, it would be a waste, you always draw dicks with uplinks that way those who die can apreciate your artwork in the spawning screen.

Only issue is they are SO easy to spot when you start throwing several down. Sure you created an impenetrable path but it screams out to any vehicle and any infantry will throw one flux and destroy 85% of your proxies.
my patterns mean at most a single flux takes out 5 proxies
that leaves 14, or math wise they take out just over 25% not 85% sure you can clear a single full minefield with ALL your fluxes... but that of course takes time, time in wich a vehicle cannot enter, and co-operation that thing that people complain tankers dont have to use.
the goal isnt destruction, the goal is to force them to waste time on something that isnt an objective or shooting at infantry/vehicles.
just like the goal with remotes isnt a kill but to create a gap in time, one where they either open themselves up to risk or waste time alowing you to get away, move more freely, reposition, or have more time to close the distance.
if something has such a glaring weakness, use that weakness as its purpose. those remotes screaming at the tank cause it to give pause, wich in turn creates oportunities you wouldnt otherwise have. it also alows you to predict movements more accuratly and think at least one more step ahead then you normally would have been able to.
basically the goal is to plan for failure in the case of remotes and proxies, because that way if your wrong the only consequence is your oponent dies. when planning for failure the goal is to have them see through the attack and act accordingly alowing you to position yourself to the advantage when the event comes to pass.
my favorite is placing remotes in such a way that when a tank aproches the proxies and stops from the noise it gives that fraction of a second pause, aka enough time to detonate my remotes ont he ground undernieth the tank with a higher chance of success.
those who think further ahead of their opponents win.
( i created this tactic before remotes stuck to tanks as my primary means of AV, and even though remotes are sticky now this method is amazing at catching "smart" tankers off guard as well nobody does this **** to the extreme i do and therefore nobody ever gets into the habbit of thinking THIS far ahead. |
